Workshop: Time Management for Predictable Success®
QUICK LINKS:
.: Register :. Being on top of your personal time management is a crucial skill for every manager.
Poor time management not only puts you under pressure - it increases stress in your team members, peers and colleagues, and creates dysfunction in the organization as a whole.
Without consistent, effective time management personal and team priorities become unclear, outputs decline and the quality of work suffers. Here at Predictable Success®, we've long believed that effective time management is at the core of being a 'Complete Manager' - in fact, we rank it as the very first of the 14 'Complete Manager' core characteristics. Predictable Success® Time Management is consequently one of our most often requested, and highly rated workshops, designed to ensure that you and your colleagues have the firmest of foundations for meeting your daily, weekly, monthly quarterly and annual management challenges.
Workshop Goal
Our goal is to ensure that you leave the workshop fully equipped to master your individual time (and space) management challenges by:
- Identifying your personal time management and organizational style;
- Tailoring a time management system to meet your personal style;
- Ensuring your personal system is easily implementable and sustainable, and
- Providing you with a simple road map for the next six months, to make sure you stay on the time management 'straight and narrow'.
You will finish this workshop not only having thoroughly enjoyed the process (no matter how disorganized you believe you may be) but also with a clear understanding of what you need to do to stay on top of your time management in the future.
Workshop Benefits
By far the single largest benefit of this workshop is the high probability that you will implement and maintain a personal time management system that will radically introduce your productivity.the reason for this is simple - personal customization. Over the years, we've found that 'one size does not fit all' when it comes to time management. Every manager has a different learning style, different ways of processing information, even differences in preferred productivity 'tools' (notebooks, PDA's, 3-ring binders, electronic software, yellow legal pads etc.) So rather than asking you to fit into one inflexible system, we have designed a mutli-faceted, modular approach to time management that allows you to take a small number of simple principles, and apply them in the manner that best suits your personal preferences - thus ensuring a much higher likelihood that you will actually use the process in the long term. Additional benefits include:
- A time management 'warning system' to prevent you drifting astray in the future;
- A clear understanding of what 'bogs you down' and how to prevent it from happening;
- A vocabulary and set of protocols that you and your managers can share, to enable you to help each other stay on top of your time management, as individuals and as a team.
Workshop Content
This content is based on a one-and-a-half-day session (our recommendation). The length of the session (and the specific content elements) can be altered to suit your needs - see the section below on customization.
Day 1 [Full day]
- Productivity Overview:
An overview of 'Predictable Success®' productivity, where time management fits, and how each contributes to managerial effectiveness.
- Agreeing the Road Map:
We'll agree as a group what 'success' in time management means for you, and how you will measure that success over time.
- Prioritizing:
Most of the workshop will be concerned with 'doing things right'. However, we'll start by making sure we know we're 'doing the right things'.
- Scheduling:
The core of time management is effective and efficient scheduling - short medium and long term. We'll learn how to master the art and science of formal and informal scheduling that works.
- Inbox Zero:
Most time management systems begin to fall apart when email overload occurs. We'll discover how to prevent that from happening.
- Establishing 'Base Camp':
OK - so every system breaks down from time to time. How do you recover easily and quickly, and get back on track?
- On the Move:
Just like diet and exercise, being on the road can be fatal to the best laid time management processes. Here's how to prevent that happening to you.
- Infrastructure:
Using the right 'stuff': What are the files, folders (virtual and paper), storage and recording tools you need to make this work?
|
Day 2 [AM only]
- Your Personal Time Management Style
What's your organization style?: Cluttered desktop? Everything neatly filed? Piler? Pack rat? Knowing which you are is a vital step to getting a time management system that will work for you.
- Choosing Processes That Work For You
You'll learn how to construct a set of realistically attainable time (and space) management processes that will work with your personal style.
- Turning Processes into a System
We'll see how to convert the individual processes you chose above into a fluid, self-sustaining system.
- Personal Action Plan:
This is where you convert everything you've decided so far into a mile-stoned, time-dependent action plan covering the next six months.
- Team Commitments and Accountability:
The success of your personal action plan will be greatly enhanced by agreeing individual and team accountability commitments, and when and how that accountability will be enforced.

Workshop format
Workshop presentation
The workshop is conducted by Les McKeown, President & CEO of Predictable Success®. Les is renowned as an entertaining, informative, results-oriented trainer, coach and consultant. This session is exceptionally interactive, with much of the workshop consisting of group and individual exercises.
The teaching elements of the workshop content are presented in an engaging, person-to-person, hands-on, practical manner - Les does not use Powerpoint or other 'point and read' teaching methods.
Timing
The recommended format of the workshop is one-and-a-half days in length (although we can amend the timing to suit your needs - see the section below on customization), with day one running from 8am to 4pm, and day 2 from 8am until noon.
Location
The workshop is run either on your premises or at an offsite location arranged by you. After registering for the workshop, we will provide you (or your event organizer, if you have one) with a simple checklist of room requirements for the session.
Number of participants
For maximum benefit, we recommend a minimum of six participants, and a maximum of 25. (Although the workshop can be run for groups larger than 25, the degree of individual coaching that can be provided drops significantly.)
Materials
We provide you with an electronic master copy of all materials ahead of the session, with instructions for reproducing copies for each participant. There is no 'per participant' fee for the reproduction of materials.
Who's it for?
The Predictable Success® Time Management Workshop is for anyone who wants to be more effective, efficient and productive in their business and personal lives.
This is not a program just for managers or 'high-achievers' (although both will benefit enormously) - it's for anyone who feels they could be doing a better job juggling time and business commitments.
Teams and groups who work closely together will particularly benefit by taking this workshop, as you and your colleagues will develop a shared vocabulary, share expectations and build mutual commitments to accountability that will radically increase the post-workshop benefits.
Workshop customization
We recognize that no two organizations are identical, and every group faces different time management needs.
Once you have registered for the workshop, Les will personally contact you (or someone you nominate) to ensure that the entire agenda is suited to your specific needs. The content and timing can be varied according to your requirements.
While we strongly recommend a one-and-a-half day format, we can adjust the running time to meet your availability. Simply use the query form below to let us know what you have in mind and we can give you a quote accordingly.
Fees and Costs
The one-and-a-half day version of this workshop (which we recommend) costs $15,000, plus travel (from Logan Airport, Boston) and accommodation for 2 nights for the workshop facilitator, Les McKeown. This fee is for a maximum of 25 attendees. We can give you a quote for larger numbers.
Other costs you may incur
You will need to have access to a suitable room for the workshop - if you do not have a suitable facility onsite, a local Marriott Courtyard (or similar) can provide you with a quote for a conference room. We will provide you with a specification sheet detailing the room requirements.
We will provide you with a master copy of the workshop materials, from which you will need to make copies for each participant. (We do not levy a 'per-participant' fee for materials, but you will incur copying costs.)
