Using RSS Feeds to Receive Predictable Success® Updates
What are news feeds? How can I use them? How do I get a news reader? Can I use these feeds on my site? What are News Feeds?
News feeds allow you to see when websites have added new content. You can get the latest articles, audio and video from various websites in one place, as soon as it is published, without having to actually visit the websites you have taken the feed from. Feeds are also known as RSS. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people use 'Really Simple Syndication'. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages, designed to be read by computers rather than people. This article from Wikipedia explains it quite well: Wikipedia article on news feeds The key point is that you can read all the up-to-date and new information from Predictable Success® on your computer without having to actually navigate to our site. Back to top How do I start using feeds?
The first thing you need is something called a news reader - the software that checks our feeds, then lets you read any new articles that have been added. You then use that software to 'subscribe' to the news feeds you want to receive updates from. There are two main types of news reader: those which use your existing web browser, and those which are downloadable software which you install on your computer. We recommend browser-based news readers, as they let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications store them on your main computer. (It's much like the difference between downloading your e-mail to your own computer using, e.g. Outlook, or viewing it on a web-based service like Gmail.) Once you have chosen a news reader that suits your needs, all you have to do is to decide what content you want it to receive. For example, if you would like the latest Predictable Success® Blog entries, just click on the 'PS® Blog' link and you will notice an orange RSS button on main page, like the one at the left.
When you click on the RSS button, you can subscribe to the feed in various ways: by dragging the URL of the feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the URL into a new feed in your news reader.

Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to feeds much easier. We particularly recommend Firefox, and indeed, the Predictable Success® website is optimized for it's use.
